The large counter argument is usually the lack of security. But that doesn’t have to be, because even with a car in this category, not every accident means total damage and a danger to health. But there are clear differences in the models.

Modern technologies have ensured that many small cars have now reached a very high level of safety. If you want to be on the safe side when purchasing such a car, you rely on hard facts and the judgment of experts. We therefore took the Euro NCAP crash test as a yardstick for this ranking.
Behind the organization Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) is a consortium of European transport ministries, automotive clubs and insurance associations, which has evaluated new cars according to a standardized five-star system since 1997.
For a high number of points, a vehicle must convince in four categories: the protection of adults and children in the car, the protection of pedestrians and the effectiveness of the installed assistance systems.
Since only nine models have been tested, there are no top ten this time, we are limited to a list of nine candidates. In the following, we show which small cars 2025 best cut off in terms of safety. The higher average value does not always correspond to a higher placement, since the individual categories were evaluated differently.
9th place: Peugeot 308
The ninth and therefore last place in our list goes to the Peugeot 308, which is an average of 73.3 percent reached. While protection for children convinces with a very good 84 percent, the evaluations for the assistance systems (65 percent) and pedestrian protection (68 percent) are comparatively low. In total, the car receives four out of five stars.
