My homescreen: apps for all situations
Matthias Mauch: My homescreen is like my work – international, pragmatic and rather communicative. I only have a cell phone. Therefore, the most important apps for all situations are on the Main Screen – according to the principle: “If the thumb does not reach it, it is not important.”
The most important tools are therefore directly within reach: Whatsapp (for Android), Slack (for Android), calendar (for Android), Map (for Android). This is how I organize everyday life between the office in Berlin, discussions with health facilities across the country and business trips to the headquarters of the Tern Group in Neu-Delhi.
Since I am traveling a lot, I need various mobility apps: Bolt (for Android) or Sixt (for Android) have helped me come from A to B in very different countries. Because even if we like to swear on our train and local transport in Germany: compared to the networks in Tunisia or India, we already have many privileges, certainly not only in the transport network.
WhatsApp + Slack = 60 percent of my cell phone time
Our work is about people who help people. We bring German companies together, especially from the healthcare industry, and specialists from India, Uzbekistan or Jordan. For me as CEO for Germany, very different threads come together.
That is why I especially need communication tools. The entire range: Whatsapp (for Android), Slack (for Android), E-mails (for Android), News. Inbox-Zero? For me, an average of 300 to 400 emails cannot be achieved per day.
My calendar is therefore more than a planning tool, it is a kind of lifestyle. In the morning I start the day with Hyrox, then take a shower and to the office. From there, until the evening, one appointment after the other. Because we have just launched an HR platform for international recruiting-I also set up a shortcut directly to the platform via the app.
The launch needed a lot of coordination, from IT to sales to marketing. So I often had to take notes. There was the Apple’s own app Notes (for Android) ideal. For me she always impresses with her clever simplicity.
Spotify & SoundCloud = my micropolases
With all the practical travel, finance and work tools, the private Matthias also has a place on the home screen: if I do not think about residence permits, language certificates or onboarding processes on the train or in the plane, I listen to music: Spotify (for Android) for jazz, Soundcloud (for Android) for techno. The mix sounds wild, but makes me happy. Just like trading with crypto from time to time.
