SUVs are known to bring their occupants to their destination. But which models offer most of the protection? We clarify this in our ranking.
If you live in the city and do not have one yourself, you probably can’t stand it: SUVs. They have dominated the admission statistics and the street scene for years. The main argument for the purchase of such a car is usually the large space, the increased seating position and of course the offered security for drivers and front passengers. But there are also differences in SUVs, as this list shows.
These SUVs are particularly safe
The ranking is based on data from the NCAP crash test. Behind the organization Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) is a conglomerate of transport ministries, automotive clubs and insurers, which regularly takes on the latest car models in a series of standardized accident tests.
For a good final rating, a vehicle has to convince in four categories: the protection of adults and children in the car, the protection of pedestrians and the effectiveness of the installed assistance systems.
So much can be revealed: All cars in the top ten have received five out of five possible stars in the security test and thus meet high demands in all of these areas. Some models can only do this with optionally installable security packages.
Technology plays an increasingly important role in the tests. For example, an unreliable emergency brake assistant can prevent placement at the top. These criteria will even be tightened in the coming year. But to the matter: which SUVS 2025 best cut off in the area of security, we show in the following gallery.
10th place: Mercedes GLB
The Mercedes GLB opens the ranking. Its average value is included 83 percent. The strengths of the compact SUV lie with occupant protection-here the GLB receives 92 percent for adults and 88 percent for children. Protection for pedestrians is only valued at 78 percent and the assistance systems receive 74 percent.
