An independent intelligence test has identified the most powerful AI models in the world. Small spoiler: The front runner surprises. Because the currently best model is no longer accessible to anyone after intervention by the US government. The analysis also shows that China has caught up massively, while Europe is completely missing from the top ten. We show you the ten most intelligent AI models in the world.
Hardly any other technology is currently developing as rapidly as artificial intelligence. New, increasingly powerful language models appear every week, and the gap between the leading providers seems to consist only of nuances. A global race for the most powerful AI has long been underway, primarily between the USA and China. We show which ten models are currently ahead.
How do you measure the intelligence of an AI model?
Our ranking is based on the independent platform’s Intelligence Index Artificial Analysis. The index combines ten demanding individual tests to create an overall value. Among other things, the AI is asked tasks related to scientific knowledge, programming, logical thinking and particularly tricky questions that even experts fail at. The higher the value, the more powerful the model.
Six of the top ten models come from US companies and four from China. Europe is completely missing from the top ten, the best European model (Mistral Medium 3.5) comes from France and ranks 20th. The Chinese providers have apparently caught up quickly and can often score points with cheaper prices. Like speed, these were not included in this ranking.
The top of the list is currently causing a stir. The current top model from Anthropic was only publicly available since June 9th of this year, before the US government blocked access to non-citizens just three days later, citing national security. Since users cannot be filtered by nationality, Anthropic quickly switched off the model for all customers. We have listed this and other AI models in our top ten.
10th place: Grok 4.3
It starts with Grok 4.3, which has an index value of 53.2 comes. The model comes from xAI, Elon Musk’s AI company, and is closely linked to the X platform. Compared to other representatives from the USA, Grok is particularly cheap and scores with strong values in agentic tasks (i.e. when solving multi-stage problems independently).
